Their efforts aid SMU in providing better wireless performance for high-density areas. The building previously had 28 wireless access points and now contains over 60. Thanks for Taking Our Calls: SMU’s Former PBX Leaves The Hilltop

A few years ago, we made the switch to our new telephone system on campus. While individuals on campus moved to the new system a while back, that wasn’t the end of the project! Our legacy Private Branch Exchange (PBX) was still in a state of limited operation while the remaining legacy phone lines (like fire alarms, fax lines, Blue Light safety phones, etc.) were moved to their own more modern equivalents.

That stage of the phone replacement project recently ended, as the final power connections to our Intecom PBX system were completely removed and preparations began for the system to be moved out of the data center in Patterson Hall. We stopped by Patterson Hall to take one last look at the equipment that handled SMU’s phone calls for nearly thirty years. Focused Inboxes To Be Disabled by Default in Outlook and How to Enable

Microsoft 365 OutlookOne of the benefits of our move to the cloud in the Mailbox Migration project will be to provide easier configuration options for email clients, better security, and more mailbox storage capacity. To get there, we need to change some current configurations and security settings. Some of these, have already been completed, but come next Monday, January 23, 2023, we will set the Focus Inbox feature to off by default as another step in this project. Mac Wireless Issues: Resolution

SMU Wireless LogoOn January 13, the security certificate for PerunaNet was renewed.  Typically, computers will prompt to accept the new certificate and reconnect without issue. However, multiple Macs and iOS devices were failing to present the “accept certificate” window, and were therefore not updating the wireless certificate.  The following solutions have been identified and should be performed on any device that is having difficulty connecting to PerunaNet.
