Yesterday, we discussed the trend of bad actors taking advantage of publicly shared Zoom meetings to take over with unwanted and disruptive screen-shares, called Zoombombing. While it is a trend in with publicly open Zoom meetings, we are in a new age of online learning and students are also testing the waters of these new platforms. Things like limiting your Zoom meeting video to Host Only will not work in an educational setting as we want to encourage student engagement and sharing. SMU Launches Panopto for Campus-wide Video Content Management & Capture
As announced during the fall of 2019, SMU’s Academic Technology Council selected the Panopto video platform for campus-wide video content management, recording, and streaming. As part of the announcement, SMU and Panopto are converting over 10,000 hours of existing content from the University’s legacy video platform, Kaltura. Celebrating 20 years of the SMU STAR Program
In early 1998, Professor Bonnie Wheeler approached then Director of the Digital Commons Robert Skinner about way to help faculty realize their pedagogical vision but did not have the technical expertise to fulfill it. Out of those early discussions came the Accelerated Student Assistant Program (ASAP) and Student Technology Assistant in Residence (STAR) Program. While the ASAP Boot Camp only lasted a few years, the SMU STAR Program still continues today in its mission to assist faculty on short-term instructional technology projects.
