Enhanced Authentication for On-Premises Exchange Starting July 30, 2020

Outlook & DuoStarting July 30, 2020, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will enhance the way authentication is done for on-premises Exchange users. Campus users of the desktop version of Outlook, Webmail, ActiveSync, and Outlook for Android and iOS clients will see a new multifactor authentication prompt similar to what is seen on Box, Canvas, other protected services. Duo is Coming to Library Services on August 5, 2020

SMU Libraries & DuoComing soon, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will enable Duo multi-factor authentication for accessing many of the Library services. This new requirement was recently approved by SMU Libraries to better protect access to a number of library resources. These Library systems and subscription E-resources used by faculty, staff, students, and even retirees, will begin prompting for Duo starting on August 5, 2020. Duo Now Required to Access Canvas

Canvas LMS + Duo SecurityAs announced in a recent communication, as of July 1, 2020, Duo multi-factor authentication is now required to access the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). When you plan to logon to the Canvas LMS or most other SMU online services that use Single Sign-On (SSO), please be sure to have your enrolled device available. Your logon experience for the Canvas LMS will now be exactly as it is for other SMU services, such as my.SMU, Office 365, Box, Qualtrics, etc. Requiring Duo for services like the Canvas LMS helps protect sensitive information from adversaries who might otherwise be able to logon as you if they somehow obtain your password.
