SMU Libraries has teamed up again with the Office of Information Technology’s Research and Data Science Services Team for “Love Data Week.” This series of workshops, sponsored by the Research and Scholarly Initiatives Team, is targeted toward anyone with a burgeoning interest in the data sciences, all the way up to the most seasoned researchers. SMU Libraries Launch Love Data Week
SMU Libraries has teamed up with the Center for Research Computing, the Data Science Institute, and the Office of Information Technology’s Research Services Team for “Love Data Week.” This series of workshops beginning on February 14th is targeted to those with a burgeoning interest in the data sciences to the seasoned researchers. Topics include:
- Introduction to using SMU’s high-performance computing systems
- Embarking on machine learning
- Digging into data mining
Love Data Week content isn’t limited to one week. Data workshops are available through the spring with other support and services meant to help anyone along in their research and scholarly journey. Enhanced Authentication for On-Premises Exchange Starting July 30, 2020
Starting July 30, 2020, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will enhance the way authentication is done for on-premises Exchange users. Campus users of the desktop version of Outlook, Webmail, ActiveSync, and Outlook for Android and iOS clients will see a new multifactor authentication prompt similar to what is seen on Box, Canvas, other protected services. Duo is Coming to Library Services on August 5, 2020
Coming soon, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will enable Duo multi-factor authentication for accessing many of the Library services. This new requirement was recently approved by SMU Libraries to better protect access to a number of library resources. These Library systems and subscription E-resources used by faculty, staff, students, and even retirees, will begin prompting for Duo starting on August 5, 2020.
