Duo “Remember Me” Feature Issues Reported for Safari

DuoSeveral Universities have reported over the past few days that Duo no longer allows users to select the “Remember Me for 1 Day” option when using the Safari browser.

This issue has been reported to Duo and they are currently working on a fix for the problem. The root cause is most likely due to the most recent Safari update to version 10.14. Duo expects the fix to be implemented in the first week of December 2019. In the meantime, if you would like to have Duo remember your login for one day, you will need to use a different browser like Firefox or Google Chrome.

We’ll keep you notified on Twitter when this issue gets resolved!

Duo Multi-Factor Authentication Expanding to More Campus Services

DuoSince 2016, the University has been using Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Duo MFA adds an additional layer of security to online services when accessing Webmail, Office.SMU, and my.SMU.

With over 125 services that are managed with Single Sign-On access, we are expanding our use of Duo MFA on campus. In short, our goal is to keep SMU’s data secure even if a password is compromised.

Effective October 14, 2019, users can expect to be required to use Duo Multi-Factor Authentication for most campus services.

There are several services that will be excluded at this time while further impact analysis is conducted.

As a reminder, since Duo is currently in use on campus, no additional setup is required. For more information or to read our FAQ’s on Duo, visit smu.edu/duo.

If you have any questions about Duo MFA, please contact the IT Help Desk at help@smu.edu or 214-768-HELP (4357).
