Duo Multi-Factor Authentication Expanding to More Campus Services
Since 2016, the University has been using Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Duo MFA adds an additional layer of security to online services when accessing Webmail, Office.SMU, and my.SMU.
With over 125 services that are managed with Single Sign-On access, we are expanding our use of Duo MFA on campus. In short, our goal is to keep SMU’s data secure even if a password is compromised.
Effective October 14, 2019, users can expect to be required to use Duo Multi-Factor Authentication for most campus services.
There are several services that will be excluded at this time while further impact analysis is conducted.
As a reminder, since Duo is currently in use on campus, no additional setup is required. For more information or to read our FAQ’s on Duo, visit smu.edu/duo.
If you have any questions about Duo MFA, please contact the IT Help Desk at help@smu.edu or 214-768-HELP (4357).
