While the introduction of the Grants Portal in my.SMU has made viewing grant information much easier for our principal investigators across campus, that doesn’t mean the work is done! Preferred Names Now Available in my.SMU

my.SMU logoOn January 14, 2025, SMU added the Preferred Name display in my.SMU to aid users in selecting the proper individual when searching for a record. Search results will show both preferred and primary names in the result list for all my.SMU pages. In cases where multiple names might make identification more difficult—such as a primary name listed as Travis Jefferson Marshall and a preferred name as Jeff Marshall—this update helps users select the correct record more easily. You can click on either the primary or preferred name row to update the record.

Fix Resolves Pesky my.SMU Logout Issues

Maybe you quietly, or not so quietly, screamed from the top of your lungs, “What’s going on?” If you are one of the lucky ones who have not seen this, good for you and carry on up that great big hill of hope! Major Updates Coming to Course Catalog & Schedule of Classes Training

Two of the most critical parts of the university’s enrollment and scheduling infrastructure are the official Course Catalog and Schedule of Classes (CC/SOCL). A large number of people and many hours of labor go into compiling and displaying class data each term in preparation for scheduling classrooms, ensuring accuracy in information and prerequisites, and creating a straightforward registration experience for students. The intensive training courses for working both in the Course Catalog and the Schedule of Classes are important milestones in preparing staff to work in these systems. The team recently revamped training for Course Catalog, and currently, we are undergoing major updates needed to the Schedule of Classes end-user training.
