Wiki.SMU Space Survey Distributed for XWiki Migration

Wiki.SMU logo with iconThis week, the XWiki Implementation Project Team sent emails to administrators of spaces on Wiki.SMU concerning the migration of content to XWiki. With over 200 spaces on the current Wiki, the migration team is reviewing to see if all those sites, many of which have not been updated since before 2010, are still needed or actively used.

OIT Begins the Move to XWiki

Wiki.SMU logo with iconSince its launch in 2014, Wiki.SMU has provided a resource for everything from course materials to project management to University documentation and has been a very successful tool for many areas on campus. Unfortunately, our current solution for the on-prem wiki.smu.edu environment, Confluence, is no longer being supported by Atlassian. After an exhaustive search, XWiki has been identified to be the replacement wiki solution. The XWiki Implementation Project will oversee the migration to this new wiki environment, including transferring all existing content and permissions to the new platform, updating existing service pages, and training information, and communicating with the campus community.

Microsoft Teams Migration Headset Reclamation: What to Expect

Winter Break (2023) Hours for the IT Help Desk

Changes to Turnitin AI Detection Tool at SMU

As we constantly adapt to the changes in educational technologies, we have an important update regarding our use of the Turnitin anti-plagiarism tool. Since last year, SMU has been participating in a beta trial of Turnitin’s AI-based anti-plagiarism detection tool. However, as of December 31, 2023, SMU’s temporary license will expire for this specific function of Turnitin due to its extremely limited success and negative track-record.
