Canvas at SMU: A New Era of Course Management
CanvasCanvas has been transitioned into the sole course management system for the University. This tool will better support the increased teaching and learning demands of higher education, such as blended learning, “flipping classrooms,” and providing a more robust overall foundation for current and future online education.

The Help Desk Returns

The Help Desk has returned to Fondren Library West. With this move, we now have new expanded hours and a newly renovated space.

Classroom Upgrades and Remote Control

Over 60 classrooms received major upgrades this summer. With each installation, our AV team sought to provide a streamlined, reliable and user-friendly configuration of the equipment and controls. Included in some of the upgrades was a new software solution to remotely control the classroom equipment.

SMU Mobile Updated for FallSMU Mobile App

We have recently updated the SMU Mobile App. In the Spring, we added ID Card Balances. Now students can add and drop courses directly from within the SMU Mobile App.

New AV Event Request Process

The AV team is responsible for supporting classroom equipment as well as campus events. Events have unique requirements, and we have implemented a new request form ensure the accuracy of those requirements.

PaperCut: A New Pay-for-Print ServicePapercut

We have implemented a new pay-for-print solution, PaperCut. This printing solution offers a number of new features for our campus community, such as printing from mobile devices, and lower priced prints.

Lyle Unification Project Update

Over this summer, OIT has worked diligently to unify Lyle services. We have made progress with networking, including wireless, and lab updates over these past months.

Gaining Visibility into IT Projects

OIT is engaged in many projects to support the University. We make these project available for review through Team Dynamix. We have included highlights of some of our critical summer projects.

Security Report is Now AvailableOIT Security Report
