Recent Updates to Training Requirements for SMU Employees via Lawroom/Everfi

Lawroom is now Everfi

In June 2014, SMU entered into an agreement with outside vendor, LawRoom, to provide certain web-based training required by SMU policy, state/federal law, or other regulations. Lawroom was recently acquired by Everfi, a nationally known provider of training content.  You will begin to notice enhancements as they are being implemented.  Once of them will be the sender name on emails generated by the system.  Please ensure you have added  on the Lawroom system.

Updates to the training “refresh” schedule

Each of the training tutorials currently scheduled by SMU has an associated “refresh” training schedule.  Read about the schedule in another post on the HR Blog.  There are 2 important updates being implemented this summer.

  1. Anyone employed by the University in June of 2014 will be approaching the three year refresh for 2 tutorials:  Harassment and Discrimination (either employee or supervisor version based on current roles) and Eliminate Campus Sexual Violence.  You will receive notification shortly after the anniversary of your original assignment date.  Watch for these emails and ensure you complete the training within the time frame allotted.
  2.  Requirements for the refresh of the SMU Program for the Protection of Minors training titled “Recognize and Report” have been updated.  All employees (not just those involved in activities with minors) will now refresh on the content every two years. If your original assignment was more than 2 years ago, you will receive notification of the need to refresh beween now and September 15, 2017.  Going forward re-assignment will be on the two year anniversary of the original assignment.

Emails generated by Lawroom/ Everfi’s training system, announcing training is available for you to access, will now include Everfi in the subject line.  Please update your security settings to accommodate this information.

You can check prior training completion by logging into my.SMU and navigating to Self Service>Learning and Development>Request Training Summary.  Note that dates provided are the date of completion, not the date of training assignment.  If you don’t think you are receiving emails from the system, check your junk folder first and contact us if notifications are not there.
