Introducing STABLE—SMU’s new IWMS solutions coming in 2021

We are excited to introduce a new suite of tools that will be available to campus beginning in summer 2021. This suite of tools, known as an Integrated Workplace Management Solution, facilitates processes such as space management, event management, keys, work orders, and so much more.  IWMS, however, doesn’t really make much sense as an acronym outside of the industry.  So we’d like to introduce, STABLE, the application designed to help support technology, assets, buildings, logistics and events!

In the Fall of 2018 Facilities embarked on a quest to find a software that would improve the customer service experience when reporting facilities issues on campus, capture accurate space utilization data, improve transparency, and enhance communication.  A committee of key stakeholders was created that included some of our OIT partners.

It became evident in our initial search with the committee that the software had the potential to streamline processes beyond facilities work orders and presented an opportunity for larger collaboration.  Our committee held a demonstration in the spring of 2019 with the final software candidates and invited room schedulers, event schedulers, members of OIT, RLSH, Facilities, Finance, Risk Management, members of the Provost’s team, and members of the academic community to see each of the software options and provide feedback to help finalize the selection.

STABLE will incorporate the work order requests for maintenance and OIT, space management, move requests, event services, class scheduling, and real estate management all into a single platform to simplify the campus experience.  We are creating a new way to navigate with you in mind.

Over the next few months we will be highlighting information about key features utilized within the software and the user’s experience. Updates throughout the project will be available on this blog and the project website.
