Updates to Adobe Creative Cloud 2019 Licensing

Adobe LogoAdobe, the company behind Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and many more applications for creatives, recently updated their application licensing technology. Although many of these changes are behind the scenes, a big one is not. Once a user upgrades to Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) 2019, they will be required to use their SMU credentials to log in to access Adobe Creative Cloud Apps and receive future updates.

Adobe Users: Do Not Upgrade to Creative Cloud 2019

Adobe LogoAdobe, the company behind Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and many more applications for creatives, recently updated their application licensing technology. This means the latest Adobe Creative Cloud software will follow a different licensing structure for University devices – One that is currently incompatible with our environment. 

Adobe is working to develop and provide tools for educational institutions to utilize a new “Shared Device Licensing” model. Unfortunately, they have not provided a firm release date for these tools. Adobe expects that the solution will be available sometime during Q1 of 2019. We are aggressively working with the vendor to have the system in place as soon as possible.
