Exchange Migrations & Department Mailboxes

OIT will be moving Exchange 2010 mailboxes to our new Exchange 2016 system. While we expect a smooth rollout, there are a few things of note.

What’s New in Exchange 2016 Webmail

As your mailboxes are upgraded to Exchange 2016, you will notice that your webmail client will look different. Here are some improved features to make e-mail less of a headache.

Changes to my.SMU are coming this Summer

This summer, SMU students, faculty, and staff will experience a new look and feel when they sign into my.SMU. A new user homepage will be introduced that is mobile-enabled for easier use on tablets and smartphones.

End of support for Java impacts AdminImages

Firefox has ended support for Java and other similar NPAPI-based plugins. This will impact users of AdminImages.SMU on campus.

SMU Phone Replacement Project

OIT has launched a project to replace the current campus telephone system in service for the last 25 years.

What to Expect in the new CrashPlan Pro

The new version of CrashPlan Pro, providing the same reliable backup service, will be updated on University computers in the coming weeks.

Sitecore Forms: Let Your Web Page do the Work

Zoom Makes Meetings Easy

SMU now offers video conference services to all students, faculty, and staff with Zoom! Instead of having to go to a special room with confusing specialty hardware; anyone with a laptop, smartphone, or tablet can start or join a meeting with anyone in the world.

Microsoft Ends Support for Vista

Microsoft officially ends support for the Windows Vista on April 11, 2107. New Windows 10 updates on the way.

Pony Express Ending in May

Pony Express, the pre-paid debit account available to all students, will be discontinued on May 17, 2017.  Students will need to begin using their PaperCut account for their printing charges instead of Pony Express.
