MathWorksRecently, MATLAB was opened up to the campus community with SSO. The computing platform used for engineering and scientific applications like data analysis, signal and image processing, control systems, wireless communications, and even robotics can be overwhelming. Since MATLAB includes a programming language, interactive apps, highly specialized libraries for engineering applications, and tools for automatically generating embedded code, some might find additional training to help get in the groove with its specialized, matrix-first environment. Don’t Get Hooked: Phishing Simulations Coming Soon

As part of these efforts, the Information Security team will launch phishing simulations designed to help our community recognize and avoid email-based scams. These simulations aren’t about “catching” anyone — they’re a chance to practice spotting red flags and build habits that protect you and our university. Empowered by AI: New AI Training Pathways Available for Staff

In fact, you may have heard the buzz on campus regarding SMU’s Generative AI Coalition of the Willing, which launched in May 2024. This initiative partnered with our schools and key departments to engage in AI experimentation and learn from each other. The coalition has been a success and has continued to expand. Now, we’re rolling out targeted AI training designed specifically for staff this fall.
