A few weeks ago, OIT announced that a new phone system will begin to be deployed over the next year. As part of this announcement, we informed you that there would be two different phones provided to the SMU community. After continued testing of the features and functionality of each phone, we have decided to go with just one primary device for all employees. That model is the AudioCodes 445HD.
The 445HD features a color information screen and plenty of programmable buttons for speed dials and special features. There is also a USB port built into the phone to accommodate commonly used USB headsets. The color screen also allows you to search the SMU directory, check your calendar, and even join Skype meetings at the push of a button!
Having just one phone for all employees will deliver a more consistent experience across campus along with reduced deployment and upkeep costs. You can expect more information, including detailed documentation and an instructional video, to be provided to you once phones start to be deployed.
