For students, summer is a time for exploration. Whether you find yourself exploring a foreign country, working at an internship, or taking new classes back on campus, LinkedIn Learning is ready to help you make the most of your experience.

LinkedIn Learning is a free, personalized learning platform provided by the Office of Information Technology here at SMU. Students can use the platform to develop new or underdeveloped skills, and then share their accomplishments with their peers on their associated LinkedIn accounts. Learn in Your Language with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning has recently rolled out a new feature that is sure to make non-native English speakers happy. Now, you can change the language preference to retrieve course content in six other languages (Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese). While not all courses are available there is still quite a collection to choose from.

Learn a new skill over Spring Break with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn LearningWith Spring Break less than a week away, we would like to remind you that it is a great time to learn a new skill. Many of you will be traveling or taking a break, and you can use the time getting there along with the LinkedIn Learning app to make your time away from campus more productive to be more fruitful when you return. By using the LinkedIn Learning Mobile app, you can download courses to view on your mobile device for offline viewing in areas you don’t have a network or wifi connection, such as in a plane, in a car, or on the beach. We have compiled a few courses – from fun new skills to productivity tips – that might be worth your time while on Spring Break. Winners in the 2019 LinkedIn Learning Watch and Win Contest

LinkedIn LearningWe are really excited about how the SMU campus has adopted LinkedIn Learning during our LinkedIn Learning Watch and Win Contest. During the contest period, which ran from January 14, 2019, to February 14, 2019, we had 413 users log in to view over 860 hours of training. Those users watched 1494 courses and 117 were completed.

For the contest, users needed to watch at least one complete video on LinkedIn Learning. The SMU community took on the challenge to heart. Over 7650 videos were viewed – 87 percent in their entirety! If you haven’t heard, LinkedIn Learning is now available to all full-time eligible employees and students. LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform offering over 13,000 digital courses taught by industry experts with content from Lynda.com. Watch videos on business, software, technology, and creative skills then promote your new skill set on your LinkedIn profile for professional networking and prospective employers to see. You can also download and view learning videos offline using the LinkedIn Learning mobile app.
