Learn in Your Language with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning has recently rolled out a new feature that is sure to make non-native English speakers happy. Now, you can change the language preference to retrieve course content in six other languages (Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese). While not all courses are available there is still quite a collection to choose from.

Begin by searching your course and use the filters on the left-hand side to select your desired language. You can also filter content and narrow down course content.

In addition to this feature, LinkedIn Learning offers courses that may help native and non-native English speakers alike overcome potential language barriers in a multicultural setting. Here are a few favorites:

LinkedIn LearningWith Spring Break less than a week away, we would like to remind you that it is a great time to learn a new skill. Many of you will be traveling or taking a break, and you can use the time getting there along with the LinkedIn Learning app to make your time away from campus more productive to be more fruitful when you return. By using the LinkedIn Learning Mobile app, you can download courses to view on your mobile device for offline viewing in areas you don’t have a network or wifi connection, such as in a plane, in a car, or on the beach. Winners in the 2019 LinkedIn Learning Watch and Win Contest

LinkedIn LearningWe are really excited about how the SMU campus has adopted LinkedIn Learning during our LinkedIn Learning Watch and Win Contest. During the contest period, which ran from January 14, 2019, to February 14, 2019, we had 413 users log in to view over 860 hours of training. Those users watched 1494 courses and 117 were completed.

For the contest, users needed to watch at least one complete video on LinkedIn Learning. The SMU community took on the challenge to heart. Over 7650 videos were viewed – 87 percent in their entirety! New date for transition of Lynda to LinkedIn Learning

As we mentioned last week, after many years of helping people around the world with technical skills and professional development, Lynda is taking a well-earned retirement!

LinkedIn LearningPreviously, we mentioned the service would migrate on December 14, 2018. That date has been deferred to January 10, 2019. Starting at 8 a.m., SMU’s connection to Lynda.com will be unavailable as we migrate to LinkedIn Learning. The migration is expected to take 18 hours.
