Q: While shopping for a specific item I need, I found a price that is better than what is listed on our Staples shopping site. Do I still have to purchase from Staples?

 A: If you find a better price on something you need to buy, contact the procurement team. SMU’s office supply contract gives us the ability to work with Staples to match the price and determine if the item needs to be added to SMU’s price list offering the highest level of discount.

 When you have a major purchase, we are also happy to save you time by researching prices for you.

 To inquire about a lower price you have already found, it helps to take a screen shot of the item and website offering the better pricing. In addition, having the manufacturer or product number also helps in the research and when discussing with SMU’s preferred providers.  Contact the appropriate category manager for your purchase to discuss:

Q: How do I print confidential or sensitive documents to a secure printer?

A: All of the newly installed Canon printers on the SMU main campus have the secured print option.  Instructions for secure printing from both Macs and PCs can be downloaded here. OIT and Imagenet will add the secure print capability to 200 additional HP printers by January 31, 2016.  If you have questions, please contact Patrick Cullen at 214-768-3400 or pcullen@smu.edu.

Most of the costs associated with our Centennial celebrations have been specifically underwritten by sponsors and other donors to the University. Our 100th birthday will include many opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the larger Dallas community to celebrate this milestone. These events also help donor cultivation and community outreach. We are grateful to our many sponsors and donors for helping make this celebration possible.

Q: How do I order paper for my printer or copier? 

A: Paper can be ordered by the case at http://smu.edu/casepaper. The paper types available are white letter, legal 3-hole letter and ledger(11”x17”). Specialty paper such as color paper or card stock paper should be ordered through Staples Advantage.
