Windows 7 Still Must Go!

No Windows 7With just weeks until Windows 7 is no longer supported, there are still dozens of University-owned computers that have yet to be updated.  The time has come to upgrade!

Users have the option to self-service your upgrade over the winter break using Ivanti Portal Manager or once they come online in January, we will push the update to the computer. If we are unable to push the update, we will deploy a consultant to do the upgrade manually before the January 14, 2020, deadline.

MOS Study Prize PackWe recently celebrated our 1,000th Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification here at SMU. CCPA student and Senior, Matthew Brink, received his certification in Microsoft Word and became that honored recipient. Introduction to Newswriting Student Earns 1,000th MOS Certification

Last spring, Sandra Duhé, Chair of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (CCPA) reached out to OIT to learn how they could incorporate the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications in the classroom. As a result, two CCPA courses are requiring their students to get MOS certified this semester.

Windows 7 Must Go!

No Windows 7With less than four months until Windows 7 is no longer supported, there are still approximately 1,000 University-owned computers running this older OS on campus.  Over the next few weeks, we will be working diligently to ensure Windows 10 is installed on all of these SMU devices.  This is not an optional upgrade, and we need your help to ensure all computers are updated in time!
