Please join us in congratulating Valeska Fahey, who has been selected as the new Executive Assistant to Michael Hites, Vice President for Information Technology and CIO for SMU.
Valeska joined OIT in 2019, and served as the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Program Coordinator and Campus Operator. In this role, she managed academic scheduling and proctoring operations for approximately 1,500 certification exams each semester, supported faculty partnerships, and contributed to numerous campus-wide IT projects. When she wasn’t coordinating the logistics of certification testing, she was often the helpful voice assisting callers through SMU’s main phone line.
On her new Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer role, Valeska shared, “I am grateful for the opportunity to expand my support here in OIT and look forward to helping coordinate the move to the new building.”
Before joining SMU, Valeska held roles in legal administration and education, including over a decade of service with Forney ISD. Valeska is known in OIT for her dedication and collaborative spirit, she brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and administrative expertise to her new position.
A proud Mustang mom to daughter Avery (Class of 2024), Valeska enjoys lunch dates with her son Zack and tackling home projects with her husband, Brian. Congratulations, Valeska! We’re excited to see you thrive in this new role and continue supporting SMU’s academic and operational excellence.
