Zoom Recording Retention Rules to Change

Zoom Workplace logoStarting Saturday, June 1, 2024, the time that Zoom recordings will remain in cloud storage will be extended! Here’s what to know:

On June 1, the retention period for recorded Zoom meetings/webinars will be extended to 60 days from the current 30. After 60 days have passed, recordings will be placed in the trash within your Zoom account. After another 30 days, the trash will be automatically purged and the recordings will no longer be available for recovery.

Due to this change in retention policy, any Zoom video recordings in your account made before April 1, 2024, will be moved to the trash folder in the web portal for cloud recordings and to the trash bin of your computer for local recordings on June 1, 2024.

If a video has been moved into Zoom’s trash bin, you can recover it for 30 days. Zoom also has instructions on how to download and save your videos either locally or in another cloud service like Box or OneDrive! If you have any other questions about storing your recordings, contact the IT Help Desk or your local Academic Technology Service Director!
