Our first phase of the Telephone Handset Replacement for Microsoft Teams Migration Project, is off to a good start with OIT representatives visiting campus buildings, meeting with employees, and exchange their desktop phones for a new headset. We have heard back from some employees about what the next phases are for the the project and we would like to update the campus on the progress and timeline.
Phase 1 | Initial headset exchange for employees who requested one in the SMU Telephone Handset Replacement Survey sent in October. Phase 1 ends December 15, 2023. |

Phase 2 | Starting in mid-January and running through February. Phase 2 is for headset exchange for employees who requested one but were not able to get one in Phase 1. Also, anyone who requested a Jabra speaker puck will be included in this Phase. |
Phase 3 | The last phase and final headset exchange. Also, employees requiring a desk phone will be swapped with a Teams-certified desk phone. The target timeframe is Q2 of 2024—around April/May. |
