Advancing Academic Excellence: SMU’s M3 Empowers Researchers with Enhanced Capabilities

High-Performance Computing (HPC) logoAs recently announced, SMU is taking its High-Performance Computing (HPC) to new heights with the introduction of M3 last month. As part of this exciting development, we seamlessly transitioned all users from M2 to M3. Now that migrations have been completed, all jobs will now be hosted on M3.

OIT’s Academic Technology Services research support team has been instrumental in readying, testing, and migrating researchers for the launch of M3. “Our research support team is excited that M3 is now online as its raw power brings many advantages to our academic community, allowing researchers to tackle complex computational challenges with unmatched efficiency. M3 offers our faculty and students unprecedented potential to accelerate world-changing discovery“, shared Jason Warner, Associate CIO for Academic Technology Services. “Thanks to the incredible work of OIT’s extraordinary HPC team members, M3 is immediately available, and I hope that faculty will take full advantage of this great resource for SMU.”

OIT has dedicated High-Performance Computing staff and offers consulting services for those interested in accessing M3. A new website, smu.edu/m3, has been recently created and includes instructions on how to obtain an SMU HPC account and access the portal.

For more information or to access our consulting services, don’t hesitate to request assistance from the Research and Data Science Services team.
