A New Chapter in SMU’s Computing History: ManeFrame III

ManeFrame III logoSince 2014, one name has been synonymous with high-performance computing for research at SMU: ManeFrame. With that first iteration, SMU researchers received a drastic improvement in computing power for their complex workloads. ManeFrame II improved upon that power, now providing services to all disciplines with the help of a robust research services team. Today, SMU is happy to announce that ManeFrame III (M3) is on the way to the Hilltop! Continue reading A New Chapter in SMU’s Computing History: ManeFrame III

Get an Introduction to ManeFrame II

HPCDid you know that ManeFrame II (M2) is available to faculty, staff, and students of SMU? If you haven’t used M2 before, the summer is a great time to learn how to take advantage of high-performance computing in your studies or academics.  In January, Rob Kalescky and Eric Godat recorded an excellent session for the Instructional Technology Workshops on “Using ManeFrame II for Research and Teaching.”

Watch the video below and find out more about using the SMU’s ManeFrame II. Continue reading Get an Introduction to ManeFrame II

CRC Kicks Off Spring 2021 HPC Workshop Series

HPCIf you have been wondering how you can take advantage of the raw processing power of SMU’s ManeFrame II, you’ll have several chances this spring. The Center for Scientific Computation is offering several “hands-on” training sessions this semester. Continue reading CRC Kicks Off Spring 2021 HPC Workshop Series

Your Portal to High-Performance Computing is Now Available

HPCWe are excited to announce the immediate availability of the new HPC OnDemand Web Portal for ManeFrame II. The portal provides an integrated, single web-based access point for High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources on ManeFrame II (M2) and is open to the entire SMU research community.

SMU Shines at SC18 Supercomputing Conference in Dallas

SMU students, staff, and faculty discuss ManeFrame 2 at SMU's booth at SC18.Various SMU faculty and OIT HPC staff annually attend the international conference known as “Supercomputing.”  The location of this year’s Supercomputing 2018 (SC18) conference in Dallas at the same time that SMU’s own investment and ascendance into a regional supercomputing powerhouse offered an opportunity for SMU to not merely attend—but, in the form of our own booth, to proudly showcase our research work and to assert SMU’s place among computational peers.
