Research on “Flopping” in Basketball
Associate Professor Peter Weyand demonstrates the physics of basketball “flopping” to the media. Weyand offered an update on his research, conducted through a $100,000 grant from Dallas Mavericks’ Mark Cuban, to understand what kind of force will knock down an athlete on the court. SMU’s Master of Science in Sport Management degree is a full-time, 12-month program designed for students who have a passion for the business of sport and who aspire to hold senior-management positions in the multi-billion dollar sports industry. The program is led by sport management professionals with decades of executive experience in a wide range of segments including professional leagues and teams, media and broadcasting, marketing and sponsorship, facilities and sports equipment and apparel. Students will learn important business skills from faculty at the SMU Cox School of Business, ranked nationally by leading business journals.
