As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance campus engagement and streamline event visibility, the Office of Information Technology is excited to spotlight the recent integration of SMU360 event data into our web platforms. Multiple teams came together to make this convenient integration a reality.
This initiative was a collaborative effort led by Michael Law from Web Application Services, who handled the API integration and backend logic. Beth Andresen contributed the framework code and design guidance, ensuring the integration aligned with SMU’s existing web design patterns. The Web Applications team worked with our Database Administrators to create a script to pull event data from the SMU360 system and place it into a database that can be read by our Sitecore content management system. This means that any events added to SMU360 can then automatically update event information on the SMU website!

With the technical foundation in place, the team is exploring ways to further enhance the integration and possibly expand its capabilities. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to improve how event information is delivered across campus. This innovation is just one more way the Web Applications team is working to improve the quality and interactivity of our SMU web pages. Interested in learning more about how they can help you?
