Quick Calc

Quick Calc: A Game-Changer for Payroll Efficiency

When Oracle recently introduced a Quick Calc feature for PeopleSoft, Business Analyst Christina George recognized its potential to streamline payroll processes. After learning about the new functionality and its ability for paychecks to be calculated for an individual employee, rather than running a batch calc process each time any change is made during payroll processing, Christina knew she had to move forward with this implementation. Based on feedback and recommendations from the Oracle user community, Christina dedicated a day to configuration, and the team tested Quick Calc ensuring safeguards like pop-up alerts were in place to maintain data integrity even when multiple payroll processors accessed the same records simultaneously.

For the Payroll team, the impact has been immediate and significant. “Before Quick Calc, processors had to coordinate when to key entries and stop collectively so one person could update the calculated paychecks,” explained Marjorie Rush, Director of Payroll Services. “Now, each processor can check the results of their work as they go. It’s ultra-efficient!” By enabling real-time validation of pay line entries, Quick Calc eliminates delays, empowering Payroll to operate with greater agility and accuracy.

Kudos to Christina George for keeping her eyes and ears open to this new feature from Oracle, which is certainly a welcomed change!
