Construction Notice: Summer Access to IT Help Desk

SMU Facilities recently announceda warning triangle with a person digging that starting May 28, 2024, McFarlin Boulevard and adjacent sidewalks will be partially closed for a required maintenance project to replace the slate roof of Fondren Library. This will require a portion of McFarlin Boulevard to be completely closed to through traffic, except for deliveries, and the sidewalks on the southside and northside of the construction site on McFarlin Blvd will be closed. This traffic deviation will also impact foot traffic to the IT Help Desk.

For those looking for in-person support, the OIT’s library entrance, facing HTSC, will be closed throughout the summer due to the roof repairs. You will need to use other library entrances during the maintenance, such as the DeGolyer Library doors and the Fondren Library Center’s West and East accessible entrances. Unfortunately, the work is expected to take most of the summer with an estimated completion of Friday, August 16, 2024.

If you would like to avoid the construction until then, the specialists at the IT Help Desk are also available via email at help@smu.edu, phone at 214-768-HELP, and chat at smu.edu/itchat. For a list of summer hours, please visit smu.edu/techsupport.
