Managing Your Personal Finances

Managing Your Finances with LinkedIn Learning

FinancesNorthwestern Mutual’s 2018 Planning & Progress Study found money to be the highest rated cause of stress among Americans. Luckily, SMU students might be able to reduce their financial stress with short video courses on money management from LinkedIn Learning.

LinkedIn Learning is a free and easy to use online learning platform provided by the Office of Information Technology. The platform contains thousands of videos to help students develop desired skills, and then share their accomplishments on synced LinkedIn accounts. If the idea of filing your taxes is completely daunting, or you have no idea how to maximize your income, a quick lesson from LinkedIn Learning can help.

Tax season is the perfect time of year to reassess financial goals. In the course Managing Your Personal Finances, you can learn anything from how to reduce your taxes to ways to make your money grow with you. The course video Tax and Your Hard-Earned Dollars teaches students ways to reduce their reported income, use credits, and file for deductions to decrease the amount they are being taxed. Students can also watch the video, Paying Yourself, to gain insight on where they stand after they file, and figure out how to maximize their financial growth. Confidence in your personal finances comes with an understanding of how money is managed. Gain this understanding with a simple hour-long course on LinkedIn Learning!
