February 12 Adobe Acrobat Basics

Adobe Acrobat is installed on almost every computer on campus, and you probably use it to view PDF files every day. Have you ever wanted to know more about what Acrobat can do? In this two-hour hands-on course, you’ll learn more about creating PDF files, editing and formatting files, publication methods, and the basics on creating your own online forms. We will also cover why PDFs are a useful file format and different use cases for them.

February 15 Getting Started with Zoom (Hosted by Zoom.US)

Ready to start using Zoom, but need some help? Drop-in for our daily (Mon-Fri) quick starts! A Zoom expert will take you through a 30-minute high-level tour of Zoom and cover the basics to get you up and running. It’s as simple as logging in, scheduling a meeting, and finding the controls. February 19 Zoom Meetings Training (Hosted by Zoom.US)

Take a comprehensive tour of the Zoom software, meetings, and settings. 60 minutes – multiple weekly recurrences.

February 27 Empowering Your Teams with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) is a resource that is available to students, faculty and staff alike that provides thousands of helpful courses ranging from Adobe software to programming to public speaking! In this quick course, find out how you can use LinkedIn Learning to enhance your team’s professional development.

March 5 Sitecore Basics for Content Editors

Are you responsible for updating information on existing SMU web pages but don’t know where to start? This session covers the basics of creating a web page from scratch within the Sitecore Content Management System. You will also learn how to work with links, images, and formatting of existing pages.

March 19 Working with Box: Cloud Storage Made Easy

Box is the cloud storage service utilized by SMU. With unlimited storage and handy collaboration tools, you will be surprised at how powerful this service can be! In this hands-on course, you will discover the basics of file management, sharing options, desktop applications, and tips and tricks to make your work easier.

March 20 DocuSign: Using Digital Signatures

In this course, you will learn the basics of working within the cloud-based DocuSign system to securely sign documents and move them through workflows to make your document management easier.

April 16 An Introduction to Wiki.SMU

Wiki.SMU is a great way to store documentation and collaborate with others. This course will show you the basics of the wiki interface, useful macros, popular uses, and more.

April 22 Advanced Sitecore

Do you want to give your Sitecore pages that little something extra? Sitecore, SMU’s Web Content Management System, does a lot of the work in creating your pages, but sometimes it needs a little wrangling to get it to shine. This class will cover how to spice up those pages by editing the CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, and HTML. We will also look at using widgets to present content in different ways.

April 25 Working with Pivot Tables & Formulas in Excel

Pivot Tables are an extremely powerful tool built into Microsoft Excel that allows you to easily organize and filter large amounts of data. Discover how these tables work as well as learn about useful text formulas in this course!

 

April 30 Adobe Acrobat Accessibility

While your PDF documents may look attractive, have you ever wondered if these documents are accessible to the visually impaired? Making sure your documents are inclusive to all is crucial in many ways whether you are a faculty or staff member. There are several ways within Adobe Acrobat to optimize your documents for vision impairments; from high-contrast settings to special considerations for screen readers. We will cover some of the most common ways to make a PDF easier to read for those using assistive technologies.
