Canvas has notified SMU that system maintenance will be performed on Canvas’ authentication systems on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
What is happening?
On Friday, Canvas will be performing maintenance on their systems which enable faculty and students to log into Canvas.
Who does this affect?
The maintenance will impact all Canvas users’ and their ability to log into Canvas. Canvas has communicated to SMU that services should not be disruptive and invisible to users. As the maintenance will take place during a busy time of day as well as a busy time of the semester, the Office of Information Technology felt it prudent to notify the campus community that the maintenance was occurring in the event of any type of service disruption.
What should happen?
If maintenance proceeds smoothly, Canvas users should experience no disruption of service whatsoever. Service disruption during this maintenance would take the form of inability to log into Canvas with SMU IDs and passwords. Should any problems arise, please notify the IT Help Desk at 214-768-HELP immediately. The Office of Information Technology will be in contact with Canvas during this scheduled maintenance should any service disruptions occur.
