DART update on face mask requirement for public transportation

Passengers who use the 440 SMU Express and 442 Museum Express shuttles are no longer required to wear a face mask. Earlier this week, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), which operates both shuttles in a partnership with the University, suspended enforcement of the federal mask requirement following a court ruling.

The full announcement by DART is below. If you need additional information or guidance, you can also contact the SMU Parking and ID Card Services Office at parking@smu.edu or by calling 214-768-7275.

Staying Safe While Riding DART

DART remains committed to providing a safe environment for both our passengers and employees. Face masks and hand sanitizer dispensers will remain in place and available on all buses, light rail vehicles, TRE vehicles and Dallas streetcars, for anyone who chooses to continue to wear a face mask for additional safety.

DART continues to undertake aggressive agency-wide cleaning and safety protocols on buses, light rail, paratransit vehicles and properties.
