Dear Maguire Ethics Center Supporters,
It brings me great joy to share with you the Maguire Ethics Center’s 2022-2023 Annual Report. This year’s report is not just a collection of facts and figures; it’s a story of collaboration and shared values that have defined our journey.
The various events hosted by the Ethics Center are a testament to this spirit. The Maguire Ethics Center collaborated with various individuals and organizations this year such as Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center, Perkins School of Theology, Dedman College Interdisciplinary Institute, University of Oxford, Dartmouth University, and others to host several events. These partnerships are not merely alliances; they are reflections of our shared commitment to the ethical principles that form the foundation of our community.
Our community outreach initiatives further amplify the theme of togetherness. We proudly honored Peter Brodsky with the J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award this year, recognizing his outstanding contributions to education, homelessness, social services, and thoughtful urban development. This acknowledgment extends beyond an individual—it symbolizes our collective efforts to celebrate those who exemplify ethical values in their actions, inspiring us all to make a positive impact.
Student involvement has always been a cornerstone of our mission. From our Public Service Fellows engaging in their summer service projects to the brilliant minds behind our Ethics Essay Prize winners, these students not only showcase their individual commitment to ethical values but also highlight the transformative power that emerges when like-minded individuals unite for good.
As you read this report, I invite you to see it not only as a document but as a story—a story of togetherness, collaboration, and the shared values that bind us. Your presence in our community has been instrumental in shaping this narrative, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rita Kirk
