Meet the Team: SMU Online Production Services

The SMU Online Production Services (OPS) team within the Office of Information Technology partners with faculty and course developers to design engaging, innovative, and high-quality online courses. Their mission is to support flexible, accessible learning for more than 10,000 SMU students, while collaborating across campus to drive digital teaching excellence and produce dynamic course media. Get to know the talented professionals behind the scenes who make online learning possible.

Jennifer Jordan – Manager & Multimedia Specialist

Jennifer oversees a talented team that develops online courses, conducts Quality Matters (QM) reviews, and creates engaging video content. Since joining SMU in January 2020, she has helped produce online classes that support flexible schedules for undergraduates, student-athletes, and postgraduates. Jennifer holds a B.A. in Documentary Studies and Production from Ithaca College and is pursuing an M.Ed. in Higher Education at SMU. She enjoys partnering with faculty to craft high-quality online experiences and champions her team’s growth. Outside of work, Jennifer can be found listening to audiobooks while walking her energetic border collie, Finn.

Kam De Leon – Online Instructional Designer & QM Coordinator

Kam brings a wealth of experience as a history professor, digital archivist, and Quality Matters Master Reviewer. As an Instructional Designer and QM Coordinator, she partners with faculty to create engaging, student-centered courses in Canvas. Kam enjoys the creativity inherent in course design and has a lifelong love of learning. In her free time, she can be spotted at the dog park, baking desserts, or exploring thrift shops.

Rachel Stanger – Online Instructional Designer

Rachel designs innovative, student-focused learning experiences that weave in AI tools and modern technology. Before joining SMU, she taught English to K-12 students and fostered her passion for innovative pedagogy. Rachel holds a degree in Secondary Education (English emphasis) from Brigham Young University and is pursuing an M.Ed. in Educational Technology and Instructional Design at Texas A&M. Away from work, she enjoys mountain biking and outdoor walks with her Australian Shepherd.

Gabriel Rodriguez – Video Developer

Gabriel creates accessible digital media that elevates online learning for students and faculty alike. He comes to SMU with experience from TCU, UTA, and the Dallas Police Department, holding a BFA in Film Production and a Master’s in Liberal Arts (philosophy in film) from TCU. Gabriel is passionate about media that educates and entertains. He enjoys road trips with his wife, photography, gaming, and terrarium-making.

Roxanne Paulson – Online Instructional Designer, Perkins School of Theology

Roxanne leverages her background in UX design and teaching to collaborate with Perkins faculty in designing their online courses. She enjoys helping faculty bring their ideas to life in Canvas and witnessing courses come together. Roxanne’s hobbies include creative projects, relaxing outdoors, and trying new restaurants with her husband.

Laura Boddicker – Temporary Online Instructional Designer, Perkins School of Theology

New to SMU but with over five years’ experience, Laura’s background as a math professor and course coordinator at UT Arlington shaped her approach to curriculum development. She is a certified project manager and values organization, planning, and collaboration. Laura enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and their dog.

Lisa Beyer – Online Instructional Designer, Simmons School of Education

Lisa partners with Simmons faculty to create meaningful online courses that balance solid pedagogy with engaging approaches. With over a decade teaching elementary music in the DFW area, Lisa brings creativity and classroom insight to course design. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys reading, video games, and sculpting with polymer clay.

Devan Trussell – Video Developer, Simmons School of Education

Devan is a creative storyteller, bringing 10 years of videography experience to SMU’s online courses. She’s worked with Oscar winners, nonprofits, indie documentaries, and has even worked as a projectionist at her favorite movie theater! She is also passionate about helping students and teachers shine on screen. Off duty, Devan is a dog mom, film enthusiast, vinyl hoarder, concert goer, and hopes to visit every national park.

Zach Peterson

Zach is a Senior IT Training & Communications Consultant with OIT. Zach began his SMU career at the IT Help Desk in 2012 and joined the Training & Communications Team in 2015. He is a 2011 graduate from the University of North Texas and obtained a Master of Liberal Studies degree from SMU in 2018. He enjoys reading and collecting vintage and antique radio sets. He grew up in Valley View, Texas near Denton.
