Powering Up the Game Day Experience

Tech Improvements Power Up the Game Day Experience

a football on a blue backgroundAs the fall semester has begun, the days get shorter, and the rush of college football action and traditions begin to course through the Hilltop. During our biggest athletic events, it’s quite a task to ensure all of our visitors have a pleasant experience, and that, of course, includes good cellular coverage! We’ve been working hard to provide even better services for students, visiting fans, and the athletes themselves. Here’s a sampling of what we’ve been up to.

Improved Verizon Coverage Now in Ford Stadium!

VerizonWe are happy to report that Verizon has joined our distributed antenna system in Ford Stadium to improve speed and coverage for those high-volume game days. Verizon joins AT&T in this system, and we’re always working with other providers to ensure the best service for everyone. You may have also noticed a “Cell on Wheels” or COW from AT&T on the Boulevard; which is yet another way we’re working to increase capacity for multiple carriers.

CUE Audio Stadium Experiences

OIT assisted Athletics with providing infrastructure to host CUE Audio, an event experience platform that enables immersive, interactive fan experiences like smartphone light shows, fan cams, and other fun activities to help make lasting memories.

XO Armor for Healthy Athletes

Additional infrastructure was also provided to introduce XO Armor, a 3D printing platform that enables sports medicine specialists to print custom casts, pads, and other protective gear right inside the fieldhouse, providing quality care for our student-athletes quickly and on-demand.

Future Project – Making Moody and Ford Cashless

a dollar bill with a slash trough it.We’re getting started on a multi-year project in conjunction with our concession partners at Aramark to make Point-of-Sale systems in Ford Stadium and Moody Coliseum totally cashless, speeding up the purchasing process so you can get back to the action on the court!
