If you’ve been working with AI chatbots lately (who hasn’t?!), you may occasionally run into issues getting the results you’d like. While large language models (LLMs) can be very powerful tools for all kinds of tasks, they also suffer from the classic pitfall of computing: they’re only as smart as the operator. Your input is critical to providing the correct information and context for the AI model to complete your task without errors and hallucinations. If you are trying to improve your AI input, there’s a tool that can help!
I was recently in a professional development course where AI, of course, was a major topic of discussion. Our facilitator mentioned Prompt Cowboy, a tool that can help you craft a prompt for all major AI chatbots. This is especially helpful if you aren’t sure where to start when asking AI for something.

Prompt Cowboy is itself an AI service, but I consider it kind of a sandbox where I can see what will work best when I’m actually using another AI model to produce needed results. While this is a helpful tool, you can always ask whatever AI service you’re currently using to assist you with prompting.
As with all public AI services, use your best judgment and information from our own guidelines when providing any potentially sensitive information. We’ll also cover some more AI topics in our upcoming training series this fall!
