Have you ever been in my.SMU, working away, and were mysteriously kicked out and redirected to the login screen? Maybe you quietly, or not so quietly, screamed from the top of your lungs, “What’s going on?” If you are one of the lucky ones who have not seen this, good for you and carry on up that great big hill of hope! For those that have, like our diligent support staff in University Decision Services (Stephen Forrest) or the Department of Enrollment Services (Cho Kim and Andy Frye), and no doubt many more, read on for some welcome news.
Others have experienced similar frustrations after closing their browser and politely logging back into my.SMU, only to be kicked out and directed back to the login screen (thanks to OIT’s own Karie Conklin for highlighting this one).
Well, thanks to the heroic efforts of Deep Pandey and the Enterprise Data Services team, we believe we have discovered the root causes of these annoying disturbances in the force and made some adjustments to the complex my.SMU infrastructure to make things more user friendly. With these adjustments, we have confirmed that the logout annoyances have been corrected.
As always, we are grateful for all the help identifying problems with our services. We test, test, and test some more, but also welcome your help to ensure that our applications are performing well for everyone. So please call the IT Help Desk (8-HELP) when you run into issues, and PONY UP!
