OIT & University Testing Center Unveil New Testing Registration System

Over the summer months, the University Testing Center (UTC) and OIT have worked together to introduce a new online test registration system. This new platform enables faculty to quickly and easily request exam sessions at the UTC, and for students to conveniently register for their exam sessions from a central location. The UTC can now also offer testing access to area community members for a fee, further expanding the audience and availability of this essential campus service.

Multiple teams from the UTC and OIT came together to make this new effort come to fruition. Michael Rossi with the applications team worked to enable seamless integration of student data from my.SMU to the scheduling platform, RegisterBlast. Once the system was configured and the user interface designed with assistance from the vendor, the IT Training & Communications team worked with UTC staffers Lori Krone and Dustin Grabsch to develop a how-to video to be presented to students on the UTC website. The vendor also provided content that was integrated into faculty how-to videos and materials to assist instructors with their integral part in the registration process.
