The Adobe and Microsoft Certification program will continue this spring as a free resource for faculty to utilize in their classes and for all SMU community participants for professional development.
Adobe: Time is running out!
For those interested in Adobe certifications (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Animate, InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver) don’t wait too long; this opportunity will expire as of April 22, 2021. At this time, we intend to renew our Adobe certification license once we have secured faculty who plan to offer Adobe certifications as part of a course requirement. Faculty who are interested in utilizing Adobe Certifications as part of their course may email Laurene Klassen for more information.
The Adobe Certification program allows participants to self-study using Adobe Education Exchange or LinkedIn Learning training materials. Are you interested in registering for an exam? Visit smu.edu/certified for study recommendations. Then, book your exam time at smu.edu/registerblast.
Getting Started with Microsoft Office
This semester, faculty from Cox, Dedman, and Meadows will participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist program. Students will be studying both beginner and advanced Excel and showing off their report and presentation skills by getting certified in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. These 50-minute exams ensure that a student has a thorough knowledge of an application. While some students may be required to take this for a course, quite a few participants complete this for personal development to showcase certifications to future employers during their job search.
Resuming this semester, a student will be required to complete a practice test with a score of 800 or higher in testing mode to qualify for the free exam. Information on how to participate may be found at smu.edu/mos.
