Canvas Plus: July 2025 Edition

Canvas +: Updates & new features in SMU's Instructional TechnologiesIn this month’s Canvas Plus Monthly, we discuss the new features and enhancements available in the Canvas LMS with MathML, the new online polling system for live audience engagement and feedback, and upcoming workshops and training opportunities.

MathML Now Supported in New Quizzes

Canvas now supports the use of MathML within the rich content editor boxes for questions and multiple-choice answers when building a quiz or assessment using New Quizzes.

New “Disable Document Uploads” setting in New Quizzes

When editing a New Quiz, you can now toggle on the new “Disable Document Uploads” setting. This prevents students from uploading files for text-based responses. When enabled for a quiz, students are restricted from using the Insert Media and Insert Document options in the Rich Content Editor.
