SMU macOS Users, Don’t Upgrade to Sequoia Just Yet!

macOS Sequoia Logo

While Apple has launched Sequoia as their latest update to macOS, we recommend that users wait until the next update before upgrading University-owned computers. We know you may be chomping on the bit to click install, but we are currently reviewing any potential conflicts with other University applications or fixes that might be needed.

While you wait, here are a few features that our Mac users can expect in the upcoming weeks.

Apple Intelligence: On Mac models with Apple silicon, macOS Sequoia introduces Apple Intelligence, which draws on your personal context to give you intelligence that’s most helpful and relevant for you. Beta, available this fall.

Use Your iPhone on Your Mac: With iPhone Mirroring, you can view what’s on your iPhone and control it too, without having to reach for it.

Drag & Drop Between Devices – Move files, photos, and videos between your iPhone and Mac as easily as you drag and drop between apps on Mac. Coming later in 2024.

If you’re interested in these features, sit tight! We will do our testing and update you soon. Remember, if you use applications that you downloaded on your own, it is your responsibility to ensure they are compatible with the new OS before you upgrade. We recommend visiting the application’s website or reaching out to their customer support team to check before upgrading.
