Part Time Job Opportunity

My name is Bethany, and I am currently a fourth year PhD student at Simmons. My four-year-old son was recently approved for Personal Care Services through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Essentially this means that the state will pay for an attendant to assist Jayden with meal times, morning/bedtime routines, doctor appointments, potty training, etc., as well as light housework. Jayden has cerebral palsy, ADHD, global developmental delay, sensory integration irregularity, and some behavioral issues, but he can independently walk and communicate his needs.

 

We are looking for an attendant to assist us 10-15 hours per week. Jayden attends child care during the weekdays, so the attendant would only work 2-3 evenings per week and occasionally on weekends, as well as one-off doctor appointments and during school closures if available. We live in North Arlington. I believe this position would be ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student seeking a career in education or child development, particularly in special education (but not necessary!).

Substitutes Needed for Private School

Our clinic, Chatterbox Therapy Center, is hiring substitutes for our Private School program. Chatterbox is a private speech therapy clinic and Private school (ChatterU) that serves and supports minimally-speaking/non speaking children with AAC devices. We have heard exceptional things about your program and would love it if you could forward this out to your undergraduate students.

 

Job Description:

-Manage classroom of approximately 3 children with individual needs

-Follow a pre written lesson plan and scaffold to individual children

-Support within feeding routines, bathroom routines, arrival and departure of the children

-Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment

-Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, the gym and in the cafeteria

-Reporting progress from the day with parents and caregivers
