In September 2016, SMU’s Central University Libraries uploaded 303 items into CUL Digital Collections.

Highlights include:

26 items from the Elmer and Diane Powell Collection on Mexico and the Mexican Revolution, including postcards, photographs, and clippings of Emiliano Zapata and his forces.

Oraciones y exercicios devotos para oir misa…,1838, a Spanish book of prayers and devotional exercises that was published in Taos, New Mexico.

19 blueprints of Dallas Hall from SMU Archives that date back to 1912, illustrating the conduit layouts, framing plans, and floor plans for various parts of the building.

75 stereographs from the Banks McLaurin, Jr. Stereograph Collection, including a set depicting Iraq, ca. 1890s-1900s, highlighting the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Another group shows historic Jewish sites in what is now modern-day Israel, ca. 1890s-1910s. Another set shows Egypt at the turn of the 20th century, including images of Egyptian pyramids and architecture, life in the market, and tourist locales.

11 speeches from former Dallas Mayor J. Erik Jonsson from the J. Erik Jonsson Papers collection. Highlights included speeches, notes, and memos of remarks given at memorials for Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy. Also included is a presentation to American Airlines about the potential move of American Airlines headquarters to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. American Airlines headquarters moved to Fort Worth in 1979.

A City Plan for Dallas, 1911, a one-volume work prepared by George E. Kessler, Landscape Architect of St. Louis and Kansas City. The document includes planning details for levees, transportation, civic buildings, parks and playgrounds, and other city improvements.

27 negatives from the Robert Yarnall Richie Photograph Collection showing the solvent extraction process for the creation of pharmaceuticals. Highlighted is the use of the Podbielniak Contactor, a liquid-liquid centrifugal extractor and separator. Companies seen using the device include Sun Oil Company, Wyeth Inc., Sharpe & Dohme (now Merck), and Charles Pfizer Company.
