At just 25 years old Steven Spielberg directed this made-for-tv film, his first, which showcases Spielberg’s early mastery of tension and suspense. It lays the groundwork for the cinematic brilliance that defines his film career legacy. With relentless pacing and a palpable sense of dread, Spielberg transforms an ordinary commute into a harrowing battle for survival, cementing his status as a visionary storyteller. Duel remains a testament to Spielberg’s ability to captivate audiences and leave them breathless, even in the earliest days of his illustrious journey behind the camera.

The screening takes place at the Angelika Film Center on April 25 from 7 – 9 pm. This is a free event.
