Parker Fleming receives Cobb Fellowship

Parker Fleming received the 2020 Cobb Fellowship after the Economics Department faculty voted that his third year research paper was the strongest among his fellow classmates. The fellowship provides funding for the 4th year of the PhD program and removes any teaching assistant or research assistant responsibilities so the recipient can focus as much as possible on their dissertation progress. Dan Millimet and PhD alum Ian McDonough receive best paper prize!

Congratulations to Professor Dan Millimet and 2014 PhD alum Ian McDonough for receiving the 2019 best paper prize in Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy! The title of their paper is Criminal Incarceration, Statutory Bans on Food Assistance, and Food Security in Extremely Vulnerable Households: Findings from a Partnership with the North Texas Food Bank. Congrats to Dan Millimet and PhD alum Ian McDonough on grant!

Professor Dan Millimet and 2014 SMU PhD alum Ian McDonough have been awarded a grant to work on food security issues by the Economic Research Service and Food and Nutrition Service. Housed in the United States Department of Agriculture, the grant was awarded under a broader initiative “Research on Food Security using the Panel Study of Income Dynamics”.
