Exciting opportunity for SMU undergraduate students! The NSF XTRIPODS Research Project is looking for passionate students to join the team as Data Science Research Assistants for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Eligibility:

Students from any major are encouraged to apply if they have:

  • Strong programming skills
  • Courses in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, or Machine Learning

Pay: $15 per hour

Expected Workload: ~10 hours per week

Duration: Minimum 1 semester

Last Call: Andrew Brimmer Undergraduate Essay Prize – Apply by October 11

This is your last chance to apply for the Andrew Brimmer Undergraduate Essay Prize, named in honor of the first Black member of the Federal Reserve Board. The prize recognizes essays on the economic well-being of Black Americans.

Criteria:

  • 750-word essay (including charts/figures) on the economic well-being of Black Americans
  • Open to undergraduate students majoring in economics, political science, public policy, or related fields at US-based institutions
  • Essays must be accompanied by an endorsement letter from the department chair
  • One essay per department

Application Deadline:

Submit your application by October 11, 2024, 5 p.m. ET to info@csmgep.org with the subject line: “The Andrew Brimmer Undergraduate Essay Prize.”

The D. E. Shaw group, a global investment and technology firm based in New York City, is now accepting applications for their 2025 fellowships, and they’re inviting second-year undergraduate students to apply!

This unique, three-day educational program offers students insight into the world of finance—no prior experience required.
