Dr. Holden becomes president of the board of local non-profit

On January 1, Dr. Holden began serving a two-year term as the Board President of Family Compass, the leading child abuse prevention agency in North Texas. Family Compass offers a number of evidence-based parenting programs to families at risk, including home visitation programs.

Article by three psychology faculty members is one of most popular articles of 2015

The study by professors Simpson Rowe, Jouriles, and McDonald entitled: Reducing sexual victimization among adolescent girls: A randomized controlled pilot trial of My Voice, My Choice, published in Behavior Therapy was cited by Elsevier as one of the five most shared and mentioned articles of 2015. Great work!

Dr. Holden to Give U.S. Congressional Briefing

Dr. Holden, the Chair of Psychology Dept., has been invited to give a briefing on Capitol Hill concerning the problem of corporal punishment of children. The briefing will occur on Nov. 18th.

Congratulations to Juliet Kroll!

Juliet Kroll received an award for excellence in student presentation at the annual meeting of the International Society for the Advancement of Respiratory Psychophysiology in Seville, Spain. Her talk was titled “Associations among central nervous system neuronal integrity, asthma control, and cognitive function: Preliminary findings.” Congratulations also to her mentor, Thomas Ritz.

Two Faculty Members Receive a NIH Grant!

Drs. Alicia Meuret and Thomas Ritz were recently notified that their NIH grant proposal with collaborators at the University of Maryland would be funded!  They will be developing and testing a device to detect biological and atmospheric asthma triggers in pediatric asthma patients. Congratulations!
