Bring a little of Cannes to the Hilltop

Bring an International Film Festival to campus.

Description

SMU’s spring international film festival brings the best of foreign cinema to campus. Films from the Arab world, Africa, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and many other countries and regions are screened at no cost to students or the general public. This helps bring international cinema to a city whose existing film venues and festivals tend to exclude such films.

This year, we want to bring in an Italian director to present his film to SMU!

  • $500 provides funds to secure screening rights for one film
  • $1,000 provides funds to bring in one panel speaker to present their film
  • $500 provides airfare to bring in one panel speaker
  • $100 provides macarons and other refreshments

“Your gift to the SMU International Film Festival gives SMU students, the SMU community, and the public the ability to travel the world without leaving Dallas. Film provides a unique window into other countries and cultures. It allows us to see how people live their daily lives and to experience vicariously their triumphs, joys, and fears. The SMU international film festival is one way SMU reflects the diversity that is both Dallas and SMU.”
