Who should get your vote? Listen and Decide.

Voters face a momentous choice this November.  CPH can help, by offering the perspective of two experts each tasked with making the case for one candidate.  A CPH Third Rail Lecture Series event, this evening will not only help voters make a more informed decision, but also demonstrate that even when backing different sides, Americans can still come together and discuss their differences respectfully, politely, and with the ever-present thought that what unites us as citizens of our shared republic is forever greater than our temporary divisions.

U.S. Foreign Policy Under the Next Democratic or Republican Administration

October 29 will focus on each candidate’s international agenda. Charles Edel of the Center for Strategic and International Studies will discuss American foreign policy under a Democratic administration, while William Ruger of the American Institute for Economic Research will outline the foreign policies of a new Republican administration.

Charles Edel is a Senior Adviser and the inaugural Australia Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, having earlier served as a professor of strategy and policy at the U.S. Naval War College, a member of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff, and as an adviser to the Secretary of State on political and security issues in the Indo-Pacific Region.

William Ruger serves as the President of the American Institute for Economic Research.  A veteran of the Afghanistan War and recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, he was nominated to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Jeffrey A. Engel, CPH David Gergen Director, will moderate both Third Rail events this semester.  Events will be held in the Mack Ballroom on the SMU campus at 6 pm. Registration will open in early September.
