Severe weather update [6/15/2023]

Overview from National Weather Service:

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for Dallas County until 10 p.m. Thursday.

  • Strong to severe storms are expected as storms form off a dryline and move east ,as well as additional storms in Oklahoma moving southeast into areas north of I-20 beginning late Thursday afternoon.
  • Main concerns are very large hail, damaging winds up to 70-80 mph, and an isolated tornado.

Here are some safety measures to take during a tornado warning, depending upon your location:

  • Go into a building and find a safe room or designated Tornado Shelter Areas
  • If a designated space is not available:
    • Go to the lowest possible level in a building
    • Move away from glass windows, exterior walls and doors
    • Move to hallways that are at the center or most interior part of the building
    • Move to restrooms without an exterior wall
